Mehedi Hasan Miraz has risen to second place in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings a few days ago. The all-rounder, Tiger, performed equally well with both bat and ball in the recently concluded Zimbabwe series. He also won the Man of the Series award. This has left its mark on the latest rankings.
Miraj is one step ahead in the list of all-rounders in the Test version and is in the top two of his career. His rating points are 327. The gap with India’s Ravindra Jadeja (400) at the top is 73 points.
However, Miraj has his eyes on the top of the all-rounder rankings. Speaking to the media in Mirpur on Tuesday, he said, ‘Of course, it is a very good thing. To be honest, it would be even better if I could come to number one. The goal is of course to go much higher. At the end of the day, I have to be fit, play well, and perform; so I am not thinking too big. I am trying to move forward in small steps.’
Miraj was in great form with both bat and ball in the last Zimbabwe series. Miraj bowled brilliantly against Zimbabwe in the first Test in Sylhet. He took 5 wickets in Zimbabwe’s first innings. Then he took 5 wickets in the second innings as well. He achieved the feat of taking 10 wickets in a five-wicket match in both innings. Miraj was the hero of Bangladesh’s innings and 106-run victory in the second Test in Chittagong. He played an innings of 104 runs with the bat in the first innings. Later, he took 5 wickets with the ball in the opponent’s second innings. He won the Man of the Match award for this excellent performance.
