The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is delivering fireworks, and the third match of its 10th season was no exception. A staggering 470 runs were scored in a high-octane clash between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, with Karachi clinching victory by 4 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
The match, held at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Saturday, saw Multan opting to bat first after winning the toss. Led by a masterful unbeaten century from skipper Mohammad Rizwan 105 runs off 63 balls, including 9 fours and 5 sixes Multan posted an imposing 234/3. Michael Bracewell added a quickfire 44 off just 17 deliveries, while Kamran Ghulam and Usman Khan chipped in with 36 and 19 runs respectively.
In reply, Karachi found themselves under pressure early, losing 4 wickets for just 79 runs. But then came the game-changing partnership. James Vince and Khushdil Shah stitched together a remarkable 142-run stand for the fifth wicket. Vince was in sensational form, hammering 101 off 43 balls with 14 boundaries and 4 sixes before being run out on the final ball of the 18th over. Khushdil followed shortly after in the 19th, having contributed 60 off 37.
With the match hanging in the balance, Irfan Khan (5* off 3) and Abbas Afridi (9* off 4) held their nerve and guided Karachi home in the final over.
Earlier in the day, the first match was a one-sided affair. Quetta Gladiators racked up 216/3 and then dismantled Peshawar Zalmi for just 136, sealing a dominant 80-run win.
