KL Rahul has batted brilliantly so far in IPL 2025.

Indian Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara believes KL Rahul has moved on from his disappointing performance last season with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He said the change in mindset is not only helping him perform better in his new IPL franchise.

Rather, this is making him a strong player for the national team as well. KL Rahul hit his third half-century of the season on Tuesday and led his new team Delhi Capitals to a stunning eight-wicket win against his former franchise Super Giants in Lucknow.

Cheteshwar Pujara made a big statement about KL Rahul

Cheteshwar Pujara said on ESPNcricinfo’s ‘Timeout’, “Just move on, don’t carry the burden of the past. And that’s a good thing. Rahul is a mature player. He has been batting well in all formats for the last few years.” He said, “He doesn’t want to think about the past and enjoy his batting. He doesn’t think about what went wrong when he was playing for the LSG team.”

Pujara said, ‘It is good to move forward which will help him play well for Delhi Capitals and even the Indian team. Because in the last few times, he is such a player that the Indian team also trusts him looking at his batting.’

LSG reached the playoffs twice under Rahul’s captaincy

Under Rahul’s captaincy, LSG reached the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, the Lucknow team finished seventh last season. Last year, Rahul’s relationship with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka also deteriorated. In a video that went viral on social media, Goenka was seen publicly reprimanding the former Lucknow captain after the defeat. A few months later, the 33-year-old was released by the franchise ahead of the big auction.
