He studied at the Bangladesh Sports Education Institute (BKSP). Later, in 2011, Yakub Chowdhury Dalim started working as a trainer for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). In 2012, he served as the first trainer in the Premier League for Gazi Tank (now Legend of Rupganj). At that time, the trainer system was not very popular in club cricket in the country. Dalim was the first in this regard.
Then in 2013, he joined Mohammedan, and Dalim is still working with that club. In March this year, he suddenly came into the spotlight during the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Tamim Iqbal fell ill on the field during the game. At that time, Dalim gave him CPR for 22 minutes. This is the most effective first aid for a heart attack. Dalim is now in Germany for advanced coaching. From there, he told Dhaka Post about his training, future goals and interest in coaching.
Yakub Chowdhury Dalim said, “I came to Germany for training with a scholarship on sports science. On strength and condition. It was actually done on my own initiative, everything is my own till now. I have asked the BCB not to deduct my salary during this period. I should get my salary every month. That is why I have applied.”

Regarding the start and end of the ongoing training, he said, “I came on a normal leave. I did the first three months online, which started last May. Then I came here in early August. Live classes started from the 2nd, which will continue until November 30. I will be here until then. Later, this course will continue until December 30, at which time it will be online again.”
Dalim said that he is learning in detail in Germany about the condition of players during injury and their return to their previous position. “We, who are the BCB’s strength and conditioning coaches, have never received such information or education before. Despite my sports background, I am getting everything very well here. Biomechanics, how physiology works in the human body. I understand the state of the injury, how to recover from it and then how to maintain proper performance.”

Dalim has a desire to work for the national team for a long time, “Sports medicine is very important, there is a lot of work to do to improve yourself. Those of us who are working on these courses from abroad, after completing this course, we can actually understand our own strengths. In the future, I definitely want to work for the national team for a long time. I mean, there are a lot of financial issues there, which is really a challenge, I like to take challenges.”
This Bangladeshi trainer has already received offers to work from foreign clubs and a country, “I have taken on the challenge of making myself an international-standard strength and conditioning coach. A few clubs and a country have already offered me. I have received an offer as a coach in Malaysian cricket. Apart from that, I am talking to a couple of clubs in Germany, they might give me an opportunity to work. If I complete the course, I will also get offers to work in various franchise leagues, that has also been discussed.”
