There were many reports of irregularities outside the field in the last BPL. There was a lot of criticism on several issues including the teams not paying the advance bank guarantee. Yesterday, a board meeting was held under the new BCB president. The issue came up for discussion there.
Later, BCB Director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu highlighted the financial irregularities of the BPL dividends and franchises.
He told the media, “The revenue from ticket sales is 12 crore 34 lakh 900 taka. Our expenditure has been on the 11th dated BPL. The expenditure of ticket sales, which was for the sale, e-ticket system development charges, VAT on ticket sales and ticket sales revenue share, we have shared 55 lakh taka with the first, second, third, fourth teams and less ticket sales revenue share which is 45 lakh taka with the 5th, 6th, 7th teams. In that, our total ticket sales have come to a net 3 crore 35 lakh taka.”
Mithu said that all the franchises’ dues will be taken care of, “Barisal has no pending. And Rangpur also has a little to pay before Eid. Rangpur is also clearing it. If they clear it, then we will pay our payment. But all the other teams have their dues. Rajshahi is there. Along with Dhaka, Khulna, Chittagong, yes? Whose and how much? This paper needs to be updated immediately. Will we pay the money they get first?”
Mithu, who announced plans to appoint a CFO to ensure the board’s financial transparency, said, “You know that tomorrow we are already giving the appointment of CFO on paper. To make a CFO appointment. Hopefully, we will be able to interview him after Eid.”
New president Bulbul has talked about taking BCB to the international level. Regarding that, Mithu said, “If we are now thinking of organizing this Bangladesh Cricket Board organization, because the president thinks that to go to those world-class levels, we have to restructure our HR department, which means the cricket board.”
