Khulna Division defeated Rangpur Division by 3 wickets in the opening match of the Under-18 Women’s National Cricket Tournament. Electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Khulna Divisional Stadium on Tuesday (May 20) morning, Rangpur Division lost all its wickets and scored 87 runs in 16.3 overs. Akhi Akhtar top-scored with 28 runs for the team.
Khadija Khatun took the highest wickets for Khulna Division with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 12 runs in 3.3 overs. Apart from this, captain Sadia Islam took 3 wickets and Afrin Mim took 2 wickets.
In reply, Khulna Division reached the target of 89 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 19.2 overs. Captain Sadia Islam scored the highest score of 27 runs for the team. Apart from this, Jannatul Jhim scored 20 runs. Bobby Khatun and Akhi Akhter took 2 wickets each for Rangpur with the ball.
Earlier, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar inaugurated the game. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Abu Sayed Md. Manjur Alam presided over it.
