In T20s, when the ball is soft, I am usually ready to bat for five overs, but when I come in early, I need some time to adapt to the relatively new ball.”
Mehidy’s weakness against pacers is clear. The 30-year-old all-rounder is trying to overcome that, “Usually top-order batsmen face the new ball in the nets. But I think I should also prepare for the new ball. Especially against our top pacers. Those who swing the ball or test you with the speed of the ball. I’m not saying I have to bat during their sessions. But when our time comes, we should bat against good pace bowlers for at least two overs. If we prepare like this, when I bat at the top, I can quickly go to my zone.”
