Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain didn’t play in Lahore Qalandars‘ first PSL match, where they suffered a heavy 8-wicket defeat against Islamabad United. Islamabad chased down 139 runs in 17.4 overs, losing just two wickets highlighting the lack of threat in Lahore’s bowling lineup.
Rishad Hossain got his opportunity in the second match against Quetta Gladiators, and he made it count. Lahore bounced back in style with a dominant 79-run win on Sunday night.
Rishad Hossain delivered a standout performance, taking 3 crucial wickets for 31 runs in his four-over spell. His victims included top-scorer Rilee Rossouw (44), Mohammad Amir, and Abrar Ahmed. His impact outshone even the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Asif Afridi, and Sikandar Raza, who took two wickets each.
Batting first after losing the toss at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Lahore posted a commanding 219/6. Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 67 off 39 balls, while Sam Billings added an unbeaten 50 off just 19. Abdullah Shafique and Daryl Mitchell chipped in with 37 runs apiece.
In reply, Quetta were bundled out for 140 in just 16.2 overs. Fakhar Zaman was named Player of the Match, but Rishad’s bowling played a pivotal role in securing Lahore’s first win of the season.
