Hayley Matthews might miss the third and last game of the West Indies tour in England because of a shoulder injury. She couldn’t play in the second ODI in Leicester due to this injury. Matthews hurt her left shoulder more after falling during the first ODI in Derby last Friday. She will visit a specialist in London on Thursday to check her shoulder.

After winning the first ODI by 108 runs and taking the T20I series 3-0, England could win the last match on Saturday in Taunton to finish the tour

Even though her team didn’t win any games, Matthews was named the best player of the T20I series. She scored 177 runs with an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 137.20. This included a not-out century in the first match at Canterbury. She also took 3 wickets for 32 runs with her bowling and scored 71 runs in the third game at Chelmsford.

“She’s going to London tomorrow morning, so we will know more then,” said Shane Deitz, the West Indies Women’s head coach, after their 143-run loss in Leicester on Wednesday night. “Hopefully, we’ll get good news tomorrow.”

In Derby, she had a 91-run partnership with her opening partner Qiana Joseph. Joseph missed the second ODI because she was sick but still scored 62 runs, even though she struggled during the T20I series. Deitz was more hopeful that Joseph would be ready to play in Taunton.

“I hoped she would be okay today, but when she got on the team bus, she looked very unwell, so we sent her back to rest,” Deitz said. “Hopefully, she will get better in a few days. She played really well the other day and is improving with the team. Fingers crossed, I’m sure she will be ready for the next game.”
