Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections are imminent. Tamim Iqbal, former BCB president Faruk Ahmed and current president Aminul Islam Bulbul have announced their participation in the contest on October 4. This is now the main topic of discussion in the domestic sports arena. Meanwhile, Bulbul has alleged that he has received threats to withdraw his candidacy. For this reason, he has written a letter to the Home Ministry seeking security and government gunmen.

Yesterday (Thursday), a letter signed by BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury was sent to the Home Ministry. In which a request has been made to ensure the security of President Bulbul and to appoint a gunman in view of the upcoming BCB elections. However, the BCB did not mention the threat in the letter.

The letter said, ‘Considering the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Board of Directors elections-2025, the security of the President is very important. In addition, he has to travel regularly to various places in the country, including Dhaka, to conduct the board’s activities. Considering the overall situation, it is necessary to ensure security for the daily travel of the Board President and to deploy gunmen to control any unwanted situation.’

Later, the BCB president confirmed that a private TV channel in the country had received a threat. Aminul Islam Bulbul, who had received a threat from an unknown number a few days ago, said, “They called and said, ‘What if I don’t vote?’ It’s better if I don’t. Security is a big issue. I’m scared. This call came 2-3 days ago.”

Incidentally, after August 5 last year, the leadership of the BCB, like other arenas, underwent changes in the new Bangladesh. However, Faruk Ahmed, who was given the responsibility of BCB president, was removed in May. In his place, the National Sports Council (NSC) approved former captain and ICC working Aminul Islam Bulbul as the BCB director. After taking charge, the first centurion of Bangladesh’s Test cricket announced that he would take charge in the short term or play T20.

Meanwhile, after the announcement of organizing the BCB elections on October 4, one surprise after another is coming. Former captain Tamim has also expressed his desire to become the president by announcing the election for the post of director. Later, it was learned that Farouk and a few others were elected as directors. In the midst of this, Bulbul’s announcement came. He said that he wanted to participate in the new elections to take forward the work started by saying, ‘After T20, I want to play ODIs.’
