After a break of two years, Bangladesh’s entertainment stars are ready to play cricket again with a new name and format. The tournament, previously known as the “Celebrity Cricket League” (CCL), has now been renamed the “Celebrity Champions Trophy” (CCT). It is scheduled to start on May 5.

This time, the matches will not be held indoors like before—they’ll take place in open-air stadiums.

Also, the format has changed. Earlier, games were just 6 overs long, but now they will follow the standard T20 format. Four teams—Gladiators, Kings, Warriors, and Spartans—made up of well-known celebrities from the entertainment world, will compete in the tournament.

There will be a total of seven matches, including the final, and T Sports will show all the action live on TV.

Many well-known stars have been confirmed for the Celebrity Champions Trophy. These include actors like Siam Ahmed, Sariful Razz, Irfan Sajjad, Tawsif Mahbub, Ziaul Roshan, Joy Chowdhury, and Sanju John. Actresses Mehazabien Chowdhury, Deepa Khandakar, Tasnia Farin, Keya Payel, Sallha Khanam Nadia, Sayra Akter, and Bonni Hasan will also take part. Popular singers Arfin Rumey and Zakiya Sultana Kornia are among the participants as well.

Famous directors such as Giasuddin Selim, Mostafa Kamal Raz, Tanim Rahman Angshu, and Probir Roy Chowdhury will also be joining the event, along with many others from the showbiz industry.

The official list of players was announced during the trophy unveiling ceremony, which took place on Thursday, May 1.

The last “Celebrity Cricket League” took place in 2023. After that, it was put on hold due to internal issues. Now, after two years, the tournament is returning with a brand-new format.
