The BCB logo is used on the jerseys of cricketers playing for any division of Bangladesh cricket. Apart from the boys’ and girls’ national teams, the official BCB logo is seen on the jerseys of all teams under the BCB, including the age-based, high performance (HP) and ‘A’ teams. However, recently, the issue of misuse of the BCB logo has come to the attention of the domestic cricket’s parent body.

In a statement on the issue of teams comprising physically challenged players and their participation in various tournaments at home and abroad, the BCB said, “The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has come to know that some teams comprising physically challenged cricketers have toured abroad and participated in international tournaments using the name ‘Bangladesh’ and in some cases using the official logo of the BCB, which has happened without any government approval or association with the BCB.”

BCB

A recent BCB meeting discussed the use of the logo and identity of Bangladesh Cricket without approval. Deep concerns were expressed about unauthorized activities. The board believes that such activities not only misrepresent the official position of the BCB, but also pose a risk of tarnishing the image of the board and the country internationally.

The notice also prohibits the use of the logo on tours without the approval of the BCB and the Bangladesh government and states that they will be exempt from all liability for all their actions, “No person or team shall use the name ‘Bangladesh’, the national flag or the official logo of the Bangladesh Cricket Board without the prior approval of the BCB and, as necessary, the Bangladesh government. Any tour or activity undertaken (by any team) without any approval will be considered unauthorized and the person or organization concerned will bear full liability for any consequences arising therefrom. The BCB will not be responsible in any way for unauthorized representation, misuse of the logo or unauthorized participation in international events.”

At the same time, the BCB has also warned of legal action, “The board will take necessary legal and disciplinary action against individuals or organizations that misuse the BCB name, logo or identity of the Bangladesh national team. We request all concerned parties – such as domestic and international cricket organizations, sponsors, media and the general public, to verify the authenticity of any team claiming to have a relationship with the BCB.”
