Bangladesh ‘A’ Team Set for Australia Tour as Top End T20 Series Returns

The Top End T20 series is going to start this month in Australia. In which Bangladesh ‘A’ team will also participate. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced the squad of the ‘A’ team for this tournament to be held in Darwin. Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan will lead it.

Bangladesh participated in this tournament for the first time last year (2024). This time, the ‘A’ team is going for the second time. The cricketers will leave Dhaka in two groups on August 7 and 8. Former Youth Asia Cup-winning captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi played for HP last year. This time, he has got the opportunity for the Bangladesh ‘A’ team for the first time.

The ‘A’ team is said to be the primary radar for getting a call-up to the national team. That is why Rabbi wants to gain experience from the upcoming tour of Australia. While talking to Dhaka Post, Rabbi said, ‘Alhamdulillah, it feels good that I am going on a foreign tour with many national team players for the first time. The aim will definitely be to do something big. If you don’t do well, no one wants to give importance to it. I want to think about every match by match.’

Rabbi considers being in the team in a tournament like Australia a big opportunity, ‘Yes, it can be said to be a big opportunity. Being able to play in a country like Australia outside of Asia. I will be able to gain a lot of great experience, it will also be a different experience that will be useful in my later career. The wickets we have here and the wickets in Australia are sky-high differences. Especially for spinners.’

Asked about the challenges, Rabbi said, ‘No, there are challenges everywhere. When I played in the Under-19 team, there were still challenges. I want to move forward as per my process. What I mean is that I will perform, move forward. Again, there is no extra pressure or anything like that here. I want to use the skills that I have practiced.’
