Australia’s premier leg-spinner, Adam Zampa, known for Adam Zampa’s Fighting Spirit, has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a recurring shoulder injury. Representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Zampa flew back to Australia after experiencing renewed discomfort in his bowling arm. The decision came after the injury, which had previously troubled him before the 2023 ODI World Cup, flared up once again.

Adam Zampa’s Fighting Spirit was evident as he featured in SRH’s first two games as an Impact Player, delivering in high-scoring contests. However, the soreness in his shoulder forced him to miss four consecutive matches, leading to further medical assessment. His absence is a blow to SRH, who have now replaced him in the squad.

Adam Zampa’s Fighting Spirit – Shoulder Flare-Up Ends Zampa’s IPL Campaign

Zampa’s short stint in IPL 2025 saw him take 1/48 and 1/46 in back-to-back matches, including the record-breaking game that totaled 528 runs between SRH and Rajasthan Royals. Despite the tough bowling conditions, Zampa’s experience remained valuable in the middle overs.

Unfortunately, the shoulder issue he had managed during Australia’s World Cup-winning campaign last year resurfaced. Although initial hopes suggested a brief rest could help him return later in the tournament, SRH opted to bring in a replacement—21-year-old Karnataka batter R Smaran—ruling out any comeback in the current season.

Adam Zampa’s Fighting Spirit was evident as he flew home for expert medical consultation, focusing now on a longer recovery period. His next expected outing is Australia’s T20I series in the Caribbean against the West Indies in late July. That series is part of Australia’s preparation for the T20 World Cup next year, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

The 32-year-old remains a key figure in Australia’s T20 setup. He finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2023 ODI World Cup and played a crucial role in Australia’s title run. With 19 T20Is scheduled for Australia before the next global tournament, Zampa’s fitness will be monitored closely to ensure he returns to full form ahead of the high-profile international assignments.

For now, SRH will have to do without their experienced leg-spinner, banking instead on their spin alternatives and hoping to find balance in the squad as the season progresses.
