So far, the BCB election 2025 date has been set for October 4. Before that, former players and sports organizers nominated councilors from district and divisional sports organizations and submitted forms to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) within the stipulated time. However, Aminul Islam Bulbul has rejected the applications of the district sports organizations that did not nominate councilors from the ad hoc committee.
At the same time, the BCB President has asked to appoint a councilor from the ad hoc committee instead of the CEO with his own signature. This led to a heated discussion for two days. It is learned that 53 forms signed by the District Administrators and Divisional Commissioners have been submitted to the BCB. Several district sports organizations have nominated councilors outside the ad hoc committee.
The BCB President has canceled the ad hoc committees announced by the National Sports Council (NSC) as they did not appoint a councilor. Later, Bulbul himself signed and asked for a councilor from the ad hoc committee. However, there is no opportunity to do this. According to Article 12.7 of the constitution, there is no opportunity to send a councilor again. Apart from this, the BCB President does not have the power to give such an order.

As a result, the BCB held an emergency meeting yesterday on the election issue. Later, facing the media, Director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said, “The government has given advice on the validity of the ad hoc committee that has been formed. Accordingly, the letters have been issued.”
After getting approval from the board, the BCB will send the voters’ list to the Election Commission. Mithu said, “We have given the form as per our constitution, everyone will submit it as per our format. The Cricket Board will verify it. Later it will be approved in the board meeting. Then we will give it to the Election Commission.”
The question arises about Bulbul’s signature. According to the constitution, any letter of the BCB is issued by the chief executive. On September 1, the letter sent by the registrar to the district and divisional sports organizations asking for a councilor was signed by Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan. However, the letter sent asking for a change in the councilor was signed by the BCB president.
Naturally, when the matter was discussed, Iftekhar Mithu confirmed, ‘The CEO is healthy. Our time has been extended twice. According to the constitution, it is within his (BCB president’s) jurisdiction. Similarly, Bulbul has all the power and he has used his power. I am not the one to judge whether it is right or wrong. According to our constitution, he (Bulbul) has used all the power that he (Bulbul) has.’
