Who is leading among the few presidential candidates being heard about? Former director Rafiqul Islam Babu told Dhaka Post, “Let me say one thing clearly, in the current situation, it is important who will be the president before who will be the director. Then the president issue will come, before that no one can say who will be the president. This is the situation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board at the moment.”

Regarding the names of candidates being heard as president, Babu said, “Many names are being heard in the discussion. I would say these are actually floating in the air. It is open to anyone to choose, it is a purely personal matter for them whether to run for election or not.”

Later, Babu clarified about Mahbub Anam, saying, “I think it’s his personal matter. An experienced sports organizer like him has a leading role in cricket. He was only on the board for two decades, if I’m not mistaken, he has the most experience. In that case, he understands very well what to do and when. It’s his personal matter, but he is the most experienced among us.”

Another former director, Sirajuddin Alamgir, told Dhaka Post on the election issue, “I want fresh blood to come and there should be a combination of the old ones. I think it should be a combination of the old ones who have experience and the new ones who have new ideas rather than representing the same people repeatedly.”

Then, regarding Tamim’s appointment as BCB president, Alamgir said, “Our president’s position is not administrative or corporate. If former players have such skills, they can also come. Tamim is also heard to be a good candidate, he has achievements in international cricket. His cricketing talent and reputation make him a good candidate.”

However, regarding Farooq Ahmed becoming BCB president, Alamgir said, “I don’t think Farooq Bhai has much connection. Or I don’t think he will do the position he has. This is my personal opinion. Aminul Islam Bulbul is also being heard. Now, these two names are being heard more. I hope that someone good will come.”
