Bangladesh last played an ODI in February this year. The Tigers failed to win a single match in the ICC Champions Trophy. After a long break, Bangladesh is finally going to take to the field in 50-over cricket.
The Tigers will take to the field tomorrow with the first match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. This is going to be the first match of Mehedi Hasan Miraj as the new captain. Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim will also not be seen in ODIs due to retirement. Due to which the batting order is vacant in their positions.
Miraj’s batting order is also being discussed a lot before the start of the ODI series. He has changed the batting order many times in his career, whether in the opening or at number eight. However, the ODI captain can now choose his permanent batting position.

At a press conference in Colombo the day before the match, he said, “See, I have said before that we have not played any ODIs since coming back from the Champions Trophy. But two important positions have gone, Mushfiqur Rahim bhai and Mahmudullah Riyad bhai.”
“They were very important players for the team. I think both positions are very valuable. We will try to ensure that the experienced players in these positions can take that position. As the captain, I think I can bat in one of those two positions. I can play Liton Das in the other position. But the game has to be built from there, our seniors have to take that responsibility in this position,” said Miraj.
The journey of the new Bangladesh without the five Pandavas begins tomorrow. However, there is some confusion about Bangladesh’s batting order. Who will open with Tanjid Tamim, the returning Liton Das or Mohammad Nayeem or Parvez Hossain? Apart from that, there is also Nazmul Hossain Shanto. All the answers to these questions will be known in the first ODI tomorrow.
