Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed today proposed a total budget of Tk 2,423 crore for the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ operational and development expenditure for the fiscal year 2025-26. Of this, Tk 1,440 crore 37 lakh has been allocated for the development sector and Tk 9,82 crore 63 lakh for the operational sector.
In the revised budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, the development sector amounted to 627 crore 95 lakh taka and the operational sector amounted to 952 crore 83 lakh 37 thousand taka. In total, the total revised budget of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the last fiscal year amounted to 1580 crore 78 lakh 37 thousand taka. That is, this time the proposed budget is 842 crore 21 lakh 63 thousand taka more than the revised budget of last year.

Notable among the projects to be implemented under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the fiscal year 2025-26 are the Mini Stadium Construction (Phase 2) Project at the Upazila Level, Further Development of Narail Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Stadium and Table Tennis Building and Construction of Indoor Stadium and Volleyball Stadium, Modernization of BKSP Training Facilities and Development of Physical Infrastructure Facilities Project, Comprehensive Technology-Based Integrated Resource Management for Poverty Alleviation (Phase 3) Project, Technology Empowerment Center on Wheels for Underprivileged Rural Young People of Bangladesh (Phase 2), Feasibility Study for New Projects of DYB, Capacity Building Project of the Department of Youth Development to Provide Information Technology Training in 64 Districts, Employment Creation through Freelancing Training for Job Seekers in 48 Districts of the Country, Expansion of Training Facilities of Central Human Resource Development Center, Savar, Dhaka and Modernization, ‘Leaving No One Behind: Improving Skills and Economic Opportunities for Women and Youth in Cox’s Bazar’, Bangladesh Project, Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET, Life Skilled Education in Youth Training Center of National Youth Platform Project.

Among the sectors allocated in the budget every year under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, notable ones are self-employment creation for unemployed youth, encouraging voluntary participation of youth in developmental activities, awarding successful youth and providing grants to youth organizations, conducting research and surveys on youth activities, involving and empowering youth in nation-building activities, training youth, creating skilled human resources through the implementation of all development and welfare-oriented activities, and involving them in the mainstream of national development.
