Soumya Sarkar missed the series against the United Arab Emirates last month due to a back injury. Later, the Tiger opener was ruled out of the Pakistan series due to the same injury. Soumya Sarkar was not included in the playing XI in the first two matches of the three-match T20 series against the United Arab Emirates.

It was thought that he might be seen in the third and final T20I. However, on the day of the final T20I, news of his injury came to light. Soumya was already suffering from a back injury. It was later reported that he was recovering very slowly.

Soumya may be seen in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka next month. Because he is currently doing well. BCB chief doctor Debashish Chowdhury told Dhaka Post, “Soumya is much better than before. I hope Soumya will not have any problems. I hope he will be able to play white-ball against Sri Lanka, although the team has not been announced. We will inform the selectors when they ask us. Everything is fine, it is going well. I hope everything will be fine.”

Earlier, national team physio Bayezidul Islam Khan said about Soumya’s injury, “After the tests, it has been seen that he will need a rehabilitation process of 10 to 12 days to recover from this injury. This means he will not be able to play in the three-match series starting in Pakistan.”
