IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad needed to win all their remaining games to stay in the tournament, but heavy rain stopped them. Although they limited Delhi Capitals to only 133 runs, Hyderabad couldn’t complete the match, which led to their elimination.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is the third team to be eliminated from this year’s IPL, joining Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The other seven teams still have a chance to advance. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians have already secured their playoff spots.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the best position. As the current top team on the IPL points table, they’ve already made the playoffs. If they win one of their remaining matches, they will finish in the top four. Winning two matches will guarantee them a top-two finish.

Despite a rough start, Mumbai Indians are in a strong position after winning 6 matches in a row. If they win their last 3 matches, they could move into the top two. However, they must win at least 2 matches to secure a play-off spot. Mumbai will face tough teams like Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals in their remaining matches.
The play-offs are within reach for Gujarat Titans, who have been in good form since the start of the season. They need to win 2 out of their remaining 4 matches. If they win 3, they can still finish in the top two. Punjab Kings also have a good chance but need to beat Mumbai and maintain a strong net run rate to secure a top two finish.
Delhi Capitals are in a tricky spot after yesterday’s rain. Even if they win 2 more matches, they can’t be sure of a spot. If they win 3, they can at least stay in 3rd or 4th place.
Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders don’t have control over their fate. They must win all their remaining matches, and by big margins, to improve their net run rate and stay in the race.
