Rohit Sharma made his international Test debut in 2013 and scored centuries in the first two matches.

Indian team’s stormy opening batsman Rohit Sharma has retired from international Test cricket today i.e. on 7 May. Rohit shared a story on his official Instagram account, in which he said that he is going to retire from Test cricket. However, Rohit will continue to play the ODI format.

Rohit Sharma made his international Test debut in 2013, and scored a century in the first two matches. Rohit Sharma took over the responsibility of opening in Test cricket from 2019. Later, Rohit was also appointed the captain of the Test team when Virat Kohli decided to step down from this important post. Rohit played his last Test match for Team India against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last year.

4301– Rohit Sharma has played 67 Test matches for Team India in which he has scored 4301 runs at an average of above 40. He is ranked 16th in the list of highest run scorers for India in the Test format.

12– Rohit Sharma has scored 12 Test centuries for Team India, out of which he has scored 9 while opening. Rohit is at the 12th position in the list of batsmen who have scored the most centuries in the Test format. Rohit has scored 12 centuries in the Test format, and Team India has won all of them. This is also a world record in itself.

18– Rohit Sharma has scored 18 half-centuries for Team India. Rohit Sharma has also scored more than 50 runs 30 times and he is the 17th Indian player in the history of Test cricket to do so.

42.50– Rohit Sharma has opened in Test cricket for Team India in 66 innings in 38 matches. He has scored 2697 runs with the help of 9 centuries. Rohit has scored these runs at an average of 42.50.

10– Rohit Sharma has scored 10 centuries in his 12 Test centuries in India. He has scored one century in West Indies and one in England.

3– Apart from Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Sharma is the third Indian player to score centuries in his first two Test matches.

5– Rohit has won 12 out of 24 matches as Test captain. He is India’s fifth most successful captain in the Test format. Virat Kohli is at the first place in this list who has won 40 matches. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at the second place who has won 27 matches. Sourav Ganguly (21) is at the third position, while Mohammad Azharuddin (14) is at the fourth position. Rohit Sharma’s winning percentage in Tests is 50%. Only Virat Kohli (58%) is ahead of him in this list.
